About the Project

Planning Inclusive Communities in regional areas.

This research is about how we can plan communities to be more inclusive of people with disabilities (including people with chronic illness and people with mental health needs) across all ages.

Our interest is making communities inclusive for all.

To do this we are wanting to hear from everyone in the community.

We want to find out what an inclusive community means and how we can better plan communities for everyone.

The research will be starting in 2020 with regional local governments in Australia (Clarence City Council and Gympie Regional Council) and local community members. This project has QUT Human Research Ethics Approval (QUT Ethics Approval Number: 1900000898).

Inclusive sustainable communities benefits everyone, while ensuring that the specific rights of people with disabilities are enacted and upheld.

The Plan

Over three years we will be gathering this information with community members.

Our aim is to develop a way to do things better.
